Our Team

The Founders

Back in 2003 we  (Evan Rudowski and Miles Galliford) wanted to launch a series of niche content websites.

Having been involved with the internet since 1995, we didn't think we would have much trouble getting our publishing empire started.

We made a list of our requirements, which we thought were fairly straightforward.

We wanted to:

  • Rapidly create new sites
  • Have control over the way these sites looked
  • Have non-technical writers updating the content
  • Be able to easily add images to our pages
  • Generate money from advertising, subscriptions and e-commerce
  • Be able to optimise the sites for the search engines so we could easily drive free traffic
  • Add new functionality as we needed to

Finally, we wanted someone else to take care of all the hosting, daily monitoring, bandwidth, maintenance and backups, so we could get on with building our business.

We were sure that a service must exist that met these failrly simple requirements.

We scoured the market from the US to New Zealand and from the UK to India.

There were lots of products that did some of the things we wanted, but we found no product that met all of our needs.

A lot of web development companies offered their services, but the quotes for custom websites were over £10,000/$20,000 each ... and this didn’t include the monthly hosting, bandwidth and management charges!

The more we researched the market, the more people we found with exactly the same requirements. We spoke with individual experts, researchers, consultants, public speakers, authors, associations and clubs, all of whom were looking for a simple, flexible publishing solution that would enable them to generate revenue from their content.

As a result of this research and the complete lack of available solutions, we decided to build our own platform from scratch to fill this big hole in the market.

We founded SubHub in 2004 with the sole aim of building an affordable solution for publishers who wanted to control their own site and have the option to make money in different ways from their content. We wanted it to be comprehensive yet simple to use; fully managed, but would leave the publisher in control.

The first version of the platform was launched at the end of 2005, having been built from the ground up.

The SubHub platform is now in its third release and we're improving it every month.
