Print Publishers Buy Into Subscription Website Market

Perason, publishers of the FT, today announced that they have acquired the subscription website business, Market Merger (, for £101m.

Market Merger provides historical data, news and comment on mergers and acquisitions contributed by 160 journalists around the world. The site was founded in 2000.

Other companies reportedly interested in buying the group were McGraw-Hill and General Electric.

There are growing signs that print publishers realize that their future is in specialist subscription website publishing.
